The Geek Spot
Day 29
Here is meter, wow in the nineties!!!
Day 28
Recovered from the holiday, here is the meter. I would write more but I have no words left in me.
Day 22
So busy, have I been! Wow. Between NaNo and living, I am done!
Fear not, I am still considering the review of Pandora's Star, and I will be reading Judas Unchained as soon as it is released in the US. So stay tuned for that review as well.
Each word is getting harded and harder to come by, but fear not for I shall triumph.
I also have a working title, The Eye of the Beholder.
Day 16
Here it is, in all it's splendor.
I love it.
Day 15 of NaNoWriMo
Day 15 officially ended last night at midnight, but I was too tired, and my battery too dead to update here.
Here's the ticker....
See that? I am more than halfway there. Yeah baby!
I didn't quite hit my goal of 2500 words yesterday, I had wanted to reach a word count of 27,700 so I am a few hundred short, but I had reached a point in my story where I really need to start a new sub-plot and my everyday life was beginning, so I just stopped there. That leaves me with a goal of 2857 words for today. There is a write-in tonight, so I am sure I will be able to make it.
I have some pretty lofty goals all through the rest of the week, at least 2000 words per day. I felt this was necessary with the holiday next week, and I have family coming to visit. I have some light days set up for next week, about 1000 words/day.
How is the actual story progressing? Well, it is real crap. I still have a good plot (at least I think so), but my time lines are really skewed. I also need to add in more background as I proceed, and my main character needs a lot more pre-development. I actually want this to be a good story, I don't think I will ever submit it for publication, but this story is near and dear to my heart. I would hate to leave it as a large pile of you-know-what.
Anyway, keep up the writing!
Day 13.5
It is actually Day 14, but I am still in the process of writing, so.
The novel is progressing. I am typing at the 1667 words/day mark. I was hoping for the 2000 words/day mark, but no cheese.
Here's the meter so far.
Oh yeah, today's subsection is titled:
How I hate Microsoft, let me count the ways.
I hate window update. I had ASSUMED that since the annoying messages prompting me to install SP2 had ceased, XP had went behind my back and installed it. NO. That did not occur. What occured instead was a series of fatal errors. Every time I tried to open a program, there would be some random error message, and if I sent the error report in (ha ha ha) the screen would say, "Install SP2, dumbass". So I did, because I wanted to open some programs, it took like 4 hours. Grrrr.
Woo-Hoo
Just put your head down and write.
Day 9 update.
Wow, it is late. I had a goal of 3500 words today. I think it took me something like 3.5 hours to write ~3500 words. So, it must take me an hour to write 1000 words. Cool.
Day 8 update
I was almost on target. I was hoping to do some work during lunch, but I had a working luch and I was incredibly busy at work today. I got home late from work and i started writing at 9pm, I just finished for the night, it is 11:21. I had to go to my sick child a few times, I ate a sandwich, and I did some spacing out. I did manage to crank out just over 2500 words, giving me a total word count so far of:
So I am 400 words short of my goal.
Updated 11-9-05: I had a billion typos so I fixed those. Also, my son woke up screaming so I had to go get him. Then I held my screaming baby while I published what I had written so far and shut down. I hope to get an additional 3500 words written today. Is it possible?
The Mars Rover
First of all, I have no NaNoWriMo update. Well, that is not technically true. On day 7 I did no writing. I was exhausted, and I spent the evening at home vegetating. I did some outlining, so it wasn't completely wasted. My NaNoWriMo goals are as follows:
Complete Chapter 5
Begin Chapter 6 (and I mean at least half)
Attain a word count of at least 3000 words.
I have calculated that at my preset output I will never finish on time, so I need to really kick it up a notch. Last night's outlining session really helped get my mind in order. I have been mostly outlining as I go, which has been giving me some very unstructured chapters. I am confident that today's writing will progress relatively smoothly. Needless to say, this book will need some intensive rewriting. This is my first fiction writing experience, so I am taking that into account.
Now, onto the Mars rover. I have my active desktop enabled on my crappy windows XP system (don't get me started). I have a webpage there, directed to the
Astronomy Picture of the Day, so everyday I am connected to the internet, I get a nice picture on my desktop. Today's picture is of the barren Mars landscape. I think it is a good thing we don't have AIs yet. If we did, we would have equipped the rovers with one, then sent them off to Mars to do their roving around, alone and solitary. I have to believe that anything capable of independent thought would get very depressed and lonely looking out at Mars. I am positive that the current rover is not lonely, but just looking at that picture makes me lonely for the rover. It makes me think of that movie, Red Planet I think it was, where the robot went crazy and started taking out the team.
Just my two cents.
Day 6
I had planned for this to be my off day, but never mind that. My personal goal had been to finish CHapter 4, and I did that plus started on Chapter 5. I logged onto the
website to find a message saying that we should be shooting for a goal of 10,002 words and we would be set for Week 2. So of course I had to reach that goal as well. Maybe tomorrw I'll feel better, but I cna harldy think right now(let alone type). I am sure every word I wrote was utter crap.
Here it is...
whew, exhausted. Once again, that is my word count.
Day four 4
Day 4 of
NaNoWriMo. Wow. Here is my latest Word word count:
As you can see, the number is growing. If you are also a NaNo, you may notice that my word counts here are lower than the counts on my NaNo profile. That is because I upload my "novel" into the NaNo word counter, which always give a higher word count than Word, so I am not cheating. I like the Word word count still, it keeps me in perspective.
I went home early and actually got some writing done. My chapters are already changing. I am going to either have to add another chapter into the outline, or change my chapter outline. But I am almost done with Chapter 3, I just have to write one more scene. Then I can start with Chapter 4. So it is looking good for me to have written through Chapter 4 by Saturday.
